QUALIFYING TO STATE MEET

INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS - 9th GRADERS

State-qualifying competition via District meets began in 1967.

9th graders began competing with the high school team "around 1980".

This list shows athletes that placed well enough at Districts to qualifiy individually to State whether their team did or not. Prior to 1988, only the top five or ten finishers in the KingCo meet qualified individually if their team did not. Beginning in 1988, the number of individual qualifiers has been determined by multiplying the number of qualifying teams by a factor of five. Athletes listed below with 'Equivalent' noted are pre-1988 athletes that would have qualified individually under the current method.
